Experiencing an anxiety attack can be a scary thing, but it is possible to ease your anxiety and the panic attacks that often accompany it.

The definition of an anxiety attack is a sudden acute episode of intense anxiety and feelings of panic. Anxiety attacks often manifest themselves through physical symptoms of anxiety such as difficulty breathing, uncontrollable shaking or sweating profusely. Focus on reducing your anxiety to get relief from these uncomfortable attacks.

Figure out What’s Causing Your Anxiety

Maybe its work or school, or maybe it’s a specific situation such as being in a room full of strangers. Take note of times you feel anxious or days when anxiety attacks occur to recognize your anxiety triggers. If you can change or avoid these situations, slowly but surely do so. Enacting too much change too quick can bring on even more anxiety.

Accept It

If there’s no avoiding your anxiety trigger, learn to accept it. Although it’s easier said than done, there are ways to become more comfortable with various issues. Meditating, deep breathing and repeating positive mantras or statements can all be powerful methods to accepting and overcoming an anxious situation. Performing these techniques daily can bring long-term relief.

Get Moving

While you should be exercising every day to help keep your anxiety at bay, getting physical when you feel an anxiety attack coming on can help prevent it. Your body produces a lot of adrenaline during these instances, and sitting still can build up toxins in the body and further increase the panic attack. Try cleaning the house when you feel especially anxious; you’ll get the physical benefits as well as a sense of control.
