I have this and my sinuses
I have this and my sinuses swell and nasal passages get plugged up and I have the dizziness, lightheadedness. I get so weak. Benadryl (generic tablets) which I break in half work well to decrease the symptoms. I haven't taken my complaints to my physician assistant, but I don't want to be on hardcore drugs, I have some busperone, will try that when the antihistimine stop working.
Awful feeling...and it comes on so suddenly.
I can't get anything done. I am a pretty healthy 70 yr/o woman, married with two poodles. I have arthritis flares too.
Hi Jamalm_23 and
Hi Jamalm_23 and Djcrews2011,
While dizziness can be a symptom of anxiety (particularly panic attacks), it can also be caused by a variety of medical conditions. Sinus pressure, tingling, and swelling are not normally associated with anxiety and likely due to something else.
I strongly recommend that both of you talk to your healthcare providers regarding these symtpoms to determine what is causing them. If a medical condition is causing the dizziness (rather than anxiety), you don't want to delay, especially if it is something serious.
As for "hardcore drugs" - if the dizziness is due to anxiety, there are other treatments that may help. In fact I don't recommend medication alone as the treatment for anxiety, because it treats only the symptoms and does not address underlying issues nor help you learn ways to manage it.
Psychotherapy is what I usually recommend for anxiety, especially cognitive behavioral therapy. Also, deep breathing exercises, relaxation exercises, regular aerobic exercise, and / or meditation can be very helpful towards alleviating symptoms.
