when it rains it pours and that's what's happening in my life right now. things have been pretty quiet for me and i've been able to spend a lot more time at home which is my safe space. this week i've gotten two party invites which immediately made me feel so anxious. i got so anxious over them that i haven't been sleeping, i toss and turn all night worrying about these two parties. i can usually say no but they're my closest friends so i feel like i have to go. feeling like i have to go to a party sounds ridiculous but when you have social anxiety like i do it's a day in my life. and i already know that my anxiety will only get worse as they get closer and i'm so afraid that once i'm there i might have a totally meltdown. i don't know how to get out of my own head, it's my thoughts that are making things so much worse.

Hi Jules, I am so sorry about your added anxiety. I understand how you're feeling. I was talking to a friend of mine today who keeps trying to make plans for a group of our friends to get together and I am cringing at the thought of a group outing. I know that I will end up going and I am really trying to 1) keep myself busy so that I don't fixate on that outing and 2) when that outing comes up, I will be doing lots of deep breathing exercises that day and will take anxiety meds before going out. Are you taking anything for your anxiety? Can you try deep breathing and meditation to calm your anxiety and thoughts? Also, if you can get out and exercise, that always helps take my anxiety down a few notches.

Social events have gotten better for me especially since I've been on meds regularly but that's not how I want to live anymore. I don't want to live a medicated life. They have helped a lot but I want to learn to be in social settings and not feel anxious without meds. I know that they help a lot of people but I want to try natural remedies for this. If anyone knows of any, that would be great.

yeah, i have the same issue. it comes and goes but when i get invited to a party or event my mind will immediately start thinking about everything that can go wrong. it's exhausting to live that way. but then there are times where it doesn't phase me and i'm totally fine. i don't get why sometimes i'm so anxious about social outings and sometimes i'm not.
