In the past, I was never able to slow my mind down enough to meditate because I believed that you had to stop thinking altogether. That seemed virtually impossible. I had this idea in my mind of what meditation was that is until I found out about guided meditations. This was totally life-changing. I don't do this every day, although I know that I should, I do this at least a few times per week. But what this taught me is deep breathing techniques that I am able to use every day. The beauty of deep breathing is that you can do this anywhere anytime and that's exactly what I do. In my ideal world, I step out into the fresh air and do my deep breathing exercises but I also do it when I am sitting at my desk and working. Sometimes stress starts to get the best of me which fuels my anxiety so I will stop what I am doing, close my eyes and do some deep breathing. Suddenly all of the stress and anxiety start to melt away.

Hi Jules, the deep breathing that works best for me is one I can do anywhere anytime. I take one big deep breath in for four counts, then I hold for four counts, and exhale for eight counts. When I have time, I like to get outside anywhere I can and do this deep breathing exercise. I really makes a difference when you are outside in the fresh air, but if you can't get outside, you can really do it anywhere. I do it while I'm working at my desk, watching TV, grocery shopping. Please let me know if you have any other questions anytime.
