I'm still nervous about panic attacks

Its been a while since I've had a panic attack but it still plays a big role in my life. Having been in and out of emergency rooms numerous times from panic attacks, I still have this fear of having another panic attack, especially when I am out in public. Although I have medication specifically for panic attacks, the symptoms can spiral quickly and I fear that I'll have another at a random moment unprovoked and in a public place. I can't seem to shake this feeling. It doesn't matter how many times I've talked to my therapist about this and how many coping techniques I've learned, I can't seem to shake the fear.

i can only imagine how tough that is millie. it's almost like you have a form of ptsd. is this something that you ever talk to your therapist about? seems like there has to be a way to get you past this.

Millie, that's so hard. I've had panic attacks and they are scary because you don't know what is happening to your body. It's like you've lost control and you don't know if the symptoms are going to get worse. You've gone through this type of trauma several times and that's scary but if you haven't had one in a long time then that's a really good thing. You are doing something right and have confidence that this is behind you. The farther away your last panic attack becomes that more you will forget about them. I know that this isn't easy but you will get past it.

Thanks for your support Pixie and Digby, I appreciate it. It is something that I am working on and my therapist is trying to help me through it too. It's not easy but you're right Pixie, it's been a while so I should have more confidence that they're not coming back and need to have confidence that they are behind me.
