How to Calm an Anxiety Attack Naturally

If you suffer from an anxiety disorder, you may occasionally experience an anxiety attack.

An anxiety attack is described as a sudden episode of intense anxiety and feelings of panic, often accompanied by physical symptoms of anxiety such as uncontrollable shaking, rapid heartbeat, and excessive sweating.

If you find yourself experiencing a panic attack, there are ways to calm it and get rid of it naturally.

Kava

Kava is a natural supplement that can reduce your anxiety. It is similar to prescription anxiety medication but does not cause the sometimes detrimental side effects. Only to be used when necessary, kava plant root is used to make a drink that has sedative properties.

Massage

Great as a regular treatment to get rid of anxiety, gently massaging your body’s pressure points when you feel an anxiety attack coming on can help calm it in its tracks. Try gently rubbing between the thumb and forefinger or at the base of the skull on either side of the neck. Whatever feels right and relaxes you is the way to go.

Meditation

When you’re experiencing an anxiety attack, it’s easy to get worked up and believe there is something more serious going on. The first step is to relax; you are not going to die. Try to get in a cool, quiet space and take several long, deep breaths. Close your eyes and focus on slowly inhaling through your nose, and exhaling through your mouth. Repeating a mantra like, “I am alright, I am calm,” can help you actually feel that way.
